remotePDF > F.A.Q.

Q: Can I render web2.0 pages?
A: The renderer has not been tested with web2.0 and generally we know that results are poor. We suggest to try with a evaluation license or our online demo before.

Q: What kind of documents can I convert to PDF?
A: The renderer at the moment can process: html files (HTML), MS office files (DOC, RTF, XLS, PPT), text files (TXT) and pictures (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIF).

Q: What Operating System does remotePDF require?
A: remotePDF is a multi-platform service. You can host your pages on Linux, Windows or any other OS.

Q: Can I customize the PDF with info like author, title or other?
A: Yes: check the Reference page. Many options can be set.

Q: Can I access the service to print pages in areas protected by password?
A: No, you can’t. But if you can access these pages then you can read them by yourself and then send the content to remotePDF. Remember that HTML pages should contain absolute links (for images and CSS), NOT relative. If your page have relative links, try to set ‘basehref’ option.

Q: Is it possible to save the generated PDF file automatically?
A: Yes: check the Examples page concerning the parameter ‘output’ with value=2

Q: May I have a trial version?
A: Of course you can ask for an evaluation license and do all tests you need.

Q: Can I install a copy of remotePDF render engine on my machine?
A: No: we offer the service, not the technology.
